Our Story

Founded by brothers, Jolyon and Luke Capon, Lasting Memories Cancer Trust was created as an ongoing tribute to seven of their family members who sadly lost their battles with cancer. This includes their brother Christian, who passed in 2017, aged just 37, and mum, Julie, who also passed away in 2018, aged 62. The grief experienced in supporting a loved one through cancer is harrowing. It is devastating to see someone consumed by illness and the ongoing affects that cancer has on all areas of their life, including their relationships with family. Collectively, we strive to make a positive difference and help families create lasting memories because, from our personal experiences, we know just how much memories matter.

Lasting Memories is a charitable trust run by a Board of Trustees on a voluntary basis. All of our board have been personally affected in some capacity by cancer and are driven by their experiences to provide support for those in our local community who are currently facing similar situations. We pride ourselves on being solely run by volunteers and ensure that as much of our funding as possible is used to help those affected by cancer, in their time of need.

What We Do

We know that a cancer diagnosis is the toughest challenge most families will ever face. It creates new worries, new routines, new expenses and limits the opportunities to spend quality time with loved ones. To make life just that little bit easier, we provide respite and financial support to individuals, and their families, currently affected by cancer. We do this by facilitating and funding memorable days and respite breaks, providing financial support for items and services to improve quality of life and delivering Wellbeing Care Packs to help individuals relax and unwind.

To help people receiving treatment for cancer, or those in remission, to maintain their strength, we provide specialist rehabilitation exercise programmes. We also fund specialist exercise instructor training, to ensure there is suitable provision of cancer-specific exercise classes in our communities.

Ultimately, our aim is to make a difference to the well-being of people going through tough times and provide services that give them the opportunity to restore emotional balance and create lasting memories with their family and friends.
