World Cancer Day, held every 4 February, is the global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). By raising worldwide awareness, improving education and catalysing personal, collective and government action, we are all working together to reimagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equitable for all – no matter who you are or where you live.
Created in 2000, World Cancer Day has grown into a positive movement for everyone, everywhere to unite under one voice to face one of our greatest challenges in history.
This is the introduction taken from the World Cancer Day website and we wholly support this initiative. We are a local charity but, if we can help in some small way to make a difference to those in our communities affected by cancer, we know, with your help, we’re going some way to help the bigger cause.
Lasting Memories was established in 2020 and we’re proud to announce we’ve just helped our 50th family. To mark this and World Cancer Day we’ve sent out wellbeing packs to those who either used our Wellbeing Fund or our Memorable Days service and we’ve asked for photos so watch this space for our new gallery.
This year we’d like to help another 50 but we can’t do this without your support. There are many ways you can get involved from fundraising by completing your own challenge or holding an event, joining one of ours or by donating. But it’s not just money. Could you help us in a professional capacity by offering your expertise or services on a pro bono basis?
