International Widows Day

Today, Wednesday 23 June, is International Widows Day. Initiated in 2005 by the Loomba Foundation and recognised by the UN since 2010, this annual event encourages us to reflect on some of the issues affecting widows around the world and what must be done to safeguard and advance their rights. According to the UN there are over 258 million widows around the world but many have been and still are being ‘left unseen, unsupported, and unmeasured in our societies’.  For more information and to donate to this worthy cause please visit https://www.theloombafoundation.org/our-work/advocacy/international-widows-day

Today, this situation is exacerbated by armed conflicts, displacement, migration and Covid-19. And here at Lasting Memories Cancer Trust, we also know how hard it is to lose a loved one to cancer. Often the grief is compounded by financial worries but we’re here to help. We can offer financial assistance through our Benevolent Fund to take some of these worries away. For more information please see here.

You don’t need to suffer alone – we can help ease the stress of financial worries and make day-to-day life a little easier. Get in touch today.
