Purple Lights for pancreatic cancer is an annual campaign in the UK that takes place during November’s Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and supports the global awareness initiative, World Pancreatic Cancer Day. This year, World Pancreatic Cancer Day takes place on 17th November 2022 and Lasting Memories Cancer Trust has teamed up with the St. Neots’ Initiative and The Best of St Neots to support this campaign and to see as many homes, buildings and landmarks as possible around St Neots light up purple on this day.
The campaign is all about putting a spotlight on a disease that deserves more attention because shockingly, less than 7% of people with pancreatic cancer will survive beyond five years in the UK.
The act of lighting up your home or focal point in a village, town or city is a way to raise awareness, to remember loved ones who have sadly died of pancreatic cancer and to acknowledge those living with or beyond the disease.
This year, Purple Lights for pancreatic cancer wants to show the world that there is no more time to waste in raising awareness and taking action against this tough cancer. And Lasting Memories Cancer Trust, the St Neots’ Initiative and The Best of St Neots would like to do all they can to get the message out. We want to help raise awareness and ensure this disease gets the attention it deserves.
The World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition class pancreatic cancer is one of the world’s deadliest cancers but the symptoms are often overlooked or misunderstood.
